the car wasn’t all there, Byron installed a larger engine from another Bri5sh car in its place. Many
upgrades have been made on the car to make it a good driver in today’s traffic. The bodywork and paint
job are complete and the car runs well. Now, for the interior…. Well, that’s s5ll in progress. Front seats
have been purchased but need to be re-upholstered. Byron is hoping that he can use the original back
seat once it is re-upholstered.
We have encountered varied responses to whether the Aus5n should have been restored as original or
done as a resto-mod. Everyone who sees it does agree that it’s a fun looking car and will get many
second looks. We are both very much looking forward to having the car finished and being able to drive
it.

Editor's Message
Our message this month is a story from Judy’s life. “My dad was a high school teacher in Magrath for the

first 6 years of my life. Although he liked teaching, teachers didn’t make much money. An opportunity came for
him to buy a business that included a Chrysler Fargo dealership, so he took that, star5ng Jan. 30, 1947. We had

never had a car or truck, but this came with the privilege of driving a demonstrator vehicle. We drove a ’47
Fargo as a family car. I have a memory of driving to Waterton with mom and dad in the cab, and my 2 year old
brother and I silng in lawn chairs in the back of the truck. I have thought over the years, why didn’t they have
us in the cab with them? When I look at the pictures of Jerry’s ’47 Fargo, I can see why. There would be no
room to squeeze us all in the cab!” Thanks for your story Jerry, and the memory it brought back to me.”
We are looking forward to many happy drives in our liRle Model A Roadster, which now has a top, and
our big boat ’76 Buick LeSabre with club members this summer. Check the Tours and Events schedule in this
